The white lines on Independence Street at the intersection of Kingshighway need to be repainted.

Obama's bragging

A recent caller suggested that President Obama should spend more time touting his accomplishments. You have to be kidding! He brags incessantly that he got Osama bin Laden. All he did was approve the plan, which any president would have done. He didn't plan it, and he certainly didn't pull the trigger. All he did was make sure that if it didn't work right, he wouldn't be held responsible. He has the courage of a kitten, but he tries to roar like a lion. Fortunately, thinking people can see through his lofty rhetoric and see him for what he is, a braggart with nothing to brag about.

Why no vote?

Way to go, Mayor Rediger and the majority of the city council. I want to thank you for ignoring the little people and not allowing the deer hunt issue to be put on a ballot for a citywide vote. I am no longer proud to be from Cape Girardeau and cannot wait for the day you are all voted out. You have all made this into the biggest mess I have ever seen!

Yard sale

The 100-Mile Yard Sale is just an accident waiting to happen. The shoppers and lookers pay no attention to where they park or walk, many having children with them. Not until someone gets hit or killed will it stop, then I wonder who will get blamed, the driver or the one walking or running between cars.

American dream

President Obama continues to beat the drum of class warfare. He tells lower income people that their problems are because of the rich people or the bankers or the venture capitalists. Really? I thought America prided itself on being a classless society where anyone can achieve whatever they set their mind to and have the talent or the good luck to achieve it. Certainly in a society like ours some people do better than others, but some people are smarter than others; some people work harder than others; some people go to school longer than others; some people get lucky breaks. All of this produces differences in success and income, but none of it has to do with classes in society.

Security camera

Surely Rush is rich enough to reimburse Missouri taxpayers for the expense of having a security camera monitoring his undeserved bust in the Missouri Capitol building.

Romney's solutions

The fiasco over Facebook's IPO couldn't come at a worse time for Mitt Romney. Allegations have surfaced that investment bank Morgan Stanley provided insider information to its best customers while the small investors -- the Main Street as opposed to Wall Street crowd, the 99 percent, if you will -- were left holding the bag. And Mitt Romney's solution to all of these shenanigans? Less regulation of Wall Street.

Dems panic

Obama and the Democrats are in a panic, trying every way they can to dig up dirt that will stick to Mitt Romney. They have no solutions of their own; they can't even pass a budget. But they want the American people to believe that an experienced businessman like Romney is less qualified to be president than a professor/community organizer/politician who mostly voted "present." Oh yeah, we believe that! What they know is that as soon as Mitt Romney is elected, the economy is going to go off like a rocket and we will see a period of sustained growth and job creation the likes of which have not been seen before.

Overweight kids

I am reading the report titled "Obesity health issues." When I moved to Missouri, there wasn't a heavyset person to be found, unless it was a drinking man and he had a potbelly. Now, everywhere you go the kids, the young children 8 and 9 years old, they are obese. I don't know what parents are thinking letting their kids eat like that.

Ethical drug?

It's par for the course. Missouri has now chosen propofol, the same drug that killed Michael Jackson, as the drug of choice for implementing the death penalty. Of course, there is no evidence one way or the other as to the efficacy and ethics of using this drug, but hey, who cares? We're the Show Me State and we'll show 'em, one way or the other.

Limbaugh honor

Several callers have complained that Rush Limbaugh shouldn't be placed in the Hall of Famous Missourians. This is a typical left wing attitude. Because they disagree with his views, he is a bad person. The lefties want every person in America to have free speech as long as he is bad-mouthing the flag, Jesus Christ, or George Bush. Oh, but if someone has a different idea, if someone disagrees with the left, then they must be denigrated and ground into dust.
