Stanley D. "Pete" Shaffar, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Aug. 13, 1932, in St. Louis, to George H. and Susie Farish Shaffar Sr. He and Dorothy Faye Frazier were married June 30, 1973, in Sikeston, Mo.

Shaffar was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Pete worked at Snap-on-Tools in St. Louis. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Faye Shaffar of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Michael H. Shaffar of Jackson, Robert L. Shaffar of St. Claire, Mo.; a daughter, Janean Shaffar of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with full military honors by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Grace United Methodist Church.
