CAIRO, Ill. -- Joseph E. Ruiz, 82, of Cairo died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Fr. Chris Mujule as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge, Ill., with military honors offered by the U.S. Army and area veterans organizations.
