SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is preparing to improve traffic signals at five intersections in Sikeston. The signals will be retrofitted with flashing yellow arrows, which will help ease traffic flow. Work to update signals at U.S. 61 and Plantation Boulevard, as well as U.S. 61 and Stalcup Drive, is expected to be completed Monday. Flashing yellow arrows will also be installed at U.S. 62 and Ingram Road, U.S. 61 and Smith Avenue, and U.S. 61 and Helen Street in the coming weeks. A flashing yellow arrow will signify that drivers turning left should yield to oncoming traffic. The signals will also display solid green arrows when left turning traffic has the right of way. A solid yellow arrow will indicate drivers should prepare to stop or complete the turn if in the intersection.
