BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Bloomfield man who told police he had been stabbed was cited with giving police a false report.

Bloomfield police chief Tim Zych said that following an investigation, the alleged victim confessed to having falsified a police report. Zych said the "minor, superficial" injuries were reportedly self-inflicted by Dennis Trotter, 42.

The incident occurred Sept. 1. A "person of interest" was interviewed and released that night.
