MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Sarah E. Davis, 87, of Mound City died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 28, 1925, in Mound City, daughter of James and Alice Parrott Koen. She and James D. Davis were married June 7, 1942.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City, as well as the Women's Sodality of the church and VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, James D. Davis of Mound City; two daughters, Judy Buckles of Mound City, Sharon (Ray) Miller of O'Fallon, Ill.; six grandchildren, Kathie (Terry) Ross, Kim (John) Tucker, Denise (Mark) Austin, James (Sharon) Miller, Shawn (Annette) Miller and Alice (Jamie) Morgan; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lella Steers and Ruth Kage; two brothers, Howard Koen and Elmer Koen; and a son-in-law, Lewis Buckles.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City. The rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
