Larry Dean Brown, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Nov. 21, 1938, at Saint Francis Medical Center, to Walton William and Inez Mary Spalding Brown.

Larry attended Catholic schools in Cape Girardeau and was a Boy Scout.

He was an electrician and a member of IBEW Local No. 1 more than 45 years. Before that he worked for the Brown Co. and Rufus Kluesner Construction.

Larry was a member of the Army Reserve 15 years, serving from June 1952 to June 1967. His basic training was in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and he held the rank of staff sergeant.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 639 for 48 years and served as past exalted ruler (1992-1993) and lodge trustee. He was a past member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing, traveling with friends and visiting friends in Colorado.

Survivors include a sister, Doris Roberts of Bonne Terre, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Jeanie Brown of Cape Girardeau; 11 nephews; and five nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister and a nephew.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with an Elks service at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Monsignor Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
