Gerald "Bud" Noland, 89, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at his home.

He was born Sept. 25, 1922, in the Indian Creek community, son of Carl and Kathleen Bray Noland. He and Noma Lee Crites were married Dec. 28, 1957. 

Bud graduated from College High School. He worked at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis before being inducted into the U.S. Army Air Force on Dec. 21, 1942. He was honorably discharged Dec. 30, 1946, and then attended college at Ames, Iowa, and the former Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau before graduating from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He taught agriculture at Ironton High School and then worked for ASCS in Jackson. He retired in 1984 after 26 years as a supervisor for FHA in Bollinger and Madison counties. After retirement, he worked for the former Jackson Easy-Pump, and in the maintenance department at the Cape Girardeau Walmart. He was a former member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland, and most recently became a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. He was a member of the Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post No. 158 in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife; a daughter, Alice (Randy) Quigley of Jackson; three granddaughters, Laura (Roy) Givens of Burna, Ky., Carla Quigley and Ali Quigley of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Quigley of Burna and Abygale Peridore of Jackson; a brother, Joe Noland of Hawaii; two sisters, Ruth Schweer of Jackson and Judy (Jerry) Rapp of Tomah, Wis.; and a favorite family toy poodle, Maggie Sue.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susie Noland in 2011; three brothers; a sister; and an infant sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Emanuel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
