A 33-year-old woman is being held at the Dunklin County Justice Center on felony charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Kennett police received a call at 9:48 p.m. Thursday to investigate an alleged stabbing at 461 Beaten St. Officers found that a woman had been stabbed several times in the neck area. She was taken by ambulance to the Twin Rivers Medical Center Emergency room for treatment.

Further investigation led law enforcement officials to a residence at 502 N. Vandeventer St., where a suspect was arrested. Officers also recovered the knife.

A report from the police department has been sent to the office of the Dunklin County prosecuting attorney for the filing of formal charges.
