KELSO, Mo. -- Sylvester August Welter, 82, of Kelso died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 14, 1930, in Benton, Mo., to Andrew John and Mary Katherine LeDure Welter. Welter was a shoe cutter 32 years at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau. KELSO, Mo. -- Sylvester August Welter, 82, of Kelso died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 14, 1930, in Benton, Mo., to Andrew John and Mary Katherine LeDure Welter.

Welter was a shoe cutter 32 years at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Kelso, Knights of Columbus St. Vincent Council 1111 in Cape Girardeau and 4th-Degree of Thomas A. Langen Assembly 0568.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include three sisters, Revella Schlosser of Scott City, Celeste Steimle and Zeta Welter of Kelso.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Leon; and a sister, Betty Kluesner.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, and from 8 a.m. until time of service Saturday at St. Augustine Church. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:15.

Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery with full military honors.
