Rosemary Stearns, 80, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born October 18, 1931 in Fruitland, daughter of Samuel P. and Nancy Hargraves Sides. She and Freddie Lee Stearns were married June 3, 1950. They had been married 56 years when he passed away June 25, 2006...

Rosemary Stearns, 80, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born October 18, 1931 in Fruitland, daughter of Samuel P. and Nancy Hargraves Sides. She and Freddie Lee Stearns were married June 3, 1950. They had been married 56 years when he passed away June 25, 2006.

Rosemary and Freddie lived in Burfordville and Jackson all of their married life, except for four years they spent in Yuma, Ariz. She was a member of Burfordville Baptist Church and the Jackson American Legion Auxiliary. She worked in the laundry department at Saint Francis Medical Center for many years.

Loving survivors include five daughters, Kathryn Stern of Jackson, Margie (Roger) Koehler of Paris, Tenn., Carol Mayfield of Burfordville, Sue (Nathan) Lewis of St. Louis, Martha (Randy) Crader of Millersville; a son, Donald "Butch" (Terry) Stearns of Burfordville; three sisters, Betty June Marlette of Washington, Mo., Nancy Mae Prince of Jackson, Virginia (Dewey) Riehn of Ashland, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Regina Louise Stearns; four brothers, Gene Sides, Wilson "Eagle" Sides, Lloyd Sides and Jerry Sides; four sisters, Agnes Miles, Ada Snider, Norma "Johnny" Bowers and Dorothy Link Blackwell.

Friends may call Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Newell officiating.

Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery near Daisy.

Memorials may be made to New Salem Church Cemetery or Jackson American Legion Auxiliary.
