Local businesses, city staff, city council members and community partners will celebrate the end of the Broadway Corridor Project with a public ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. Oct. 26.

Road closures related to the project ended on time and lasted six months, according to a Cape Girardeau city government blog post. Major street improvements are finished including a new street surface with decorative enhancements, new lighting and landscaping.

Final improvements, which include benches, trash cans, bike racks and plants, will be finished in the next few months, city officials said.

Broadway will be closed between 8:30 and 10 a.m. Oct. 26 between Middle and Fountain streets for the event.
