Southeast Missouri State redshirt freshman quarterback Scott Lathrop's big performance Saturday was recognized by the Ohio Valley Conference.

Lathrop was named the OVC newcomer of the week Sunday after leading the Redhawks to a 48-27 win at Austin Peay. Southeast broke an overall three-game losing as well as a 10-game road losing streak dating back to 2010.

Lathrop rushed for a career-high 179 yards on 20 carries and accounted for 215 yards of total offense Saturday. He scored two touchdowns, including a 67-yarder that was Southeast's longest run of the season.

The 179 rushing yards are the second-most by a quarterback in Southeast history, trailing only Matt Scheible's 209 last season.

Lathrop's other 100-yard rushing performance for Southeast this year came Oct. 13 when he had 145 yards against Tennessee State.
