Jackson parks tax passes; Reitzel wins administrator

Jackson will have a new quarter-cent sales tax to fund operation of a community center and parks operations.

The tax passed with 3,973 yes votes to 2,762 no votes.

The tax is expected to bring in about $500,000 annually.

Republican Lisa Reitzel won handily over Democrat Mary Cotner, with 23,648 votes to Cotner's 10,483.

The usually reliably Republican Cape Girardeau County isn't bucking any trend this election, with Republicans taking all of the races on the ballot in the county handily.
