All the local high school events reported Tuesday to the Southeast Missourian.

Delta senior Machela VanGennip scored a game-high 31 points, but it was not enough to prevent the Bobcats girls basketball team from falling in overtime to visiting St. Vincent on Tuesday night.

St. Vincent, with Katie Mattingly leading the way with 10 points, used a more balanced approach in a 39-37 victory.

St. Vincent's Casey Unterreiner, who finished with eight points, hit a game-tying shot with about 20 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Stephanie Hoyt broke a 37-37 deadlock with a basket with about 10 seconds left in overtime.

VanGennip, who scored 21 points in the second half, scored all three points for Delta (1-1) in overtime. St. Vincent (1-1) had seven players find the scoring column, while Delta had just three players score.

Miranda Fowler led with 11 points as the sixth-seeded Bulldogs upset No. 3 Jackson in the first round of the Farmington Invitational.

Karsen Powers added 10 points and Annie Siebert had nine for Notre Dame (1-0). Shelby Beussink led the stats sheets for the Bulldogs with nine rebounds and four steals, and Kaitlin Welter tallied eight rebounds in the win.

Megan Williams paced Jackson with 11 points, while Cassidi Tomsu added nine for the Indians (0-2).

Notre Dame will return to the court Friday when the Bulldogs play the winner of Miller Career Academy and De Soto in the tournament quarterfinal, while the loser will play Jackson at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the consolation bracket.

Alayah Cooper-Johnson led with 27 points in the Tigers' first-round victory in the Northwest (Cedar Hill) Invitational.

Chelsea Vinson added 16 points, six steals and six rebounds for Central (1-0), while Bailey Kratochvil had six points and five assists. Katie Williams totaled six steals and seven rebounds, and Kadie Orenstein had six assists for the Tigers.

Central will play the winner of Kirkwood and Villa Duchesne at 7 p.m. Thursday in the tournament quarterfinals.

Trent Elder had 14 points and four assists to help the fourth-seeeded Indians upset the No. 3 tournament host Hornets in the Crystal City Invitational.

Dylan Richardet added 14 points for St. Vincent (1-0) in its season-opener. Dylan Hellman tallied 10 rebounds and added five points for the Indians.

St. Vincent will face second-seeded Ste. Genevieve at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the semifinals.
