Anna man charged with possession of child pornography

JONESBORO, Ill. -- An Anna, Ill., man already facing charges of child sexual assault now is accused of possessing child pornography.

Benson T. Poirier, 33, was charged Tuesday with two counts of aggravated child pornography and five counts of child pornography, according to Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds. Poirier is accused of possessing pornographic images of children at his home in August.

He was indicted in November by a Union County grand jury on five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for sex acts with children younger than 13 years old, which allegedly happened between 2005 and 2012.

He was being held Tuesday at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Ill., on a $300,000 bond.
