Barbara Ann Schlick, 51, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at her home.

She was born Oct. 28, 1961, in Cincinnati to Eugene T. and Patsy Jean Webb Schlick.

She received an associate's degree in child development from Southeast Missouri State University.

Barbara was a administrative assistant for VIP Industries in Cape Girardeau. She also was the group home house parent for the Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. Barb selflessly served the clients of VIP Industries as if they were her own family for more than 25 years. She often volunteered to coordinate community events and in-house parties. She was known best by the clients for her delicious cooking.

Her giving spirit, dedication to her work and love for family will be her legacy. She will be greatly missed.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.

Survivors include her mother, Patsy Jean Schlick of Cape Girardeau; sisters Susan M. Wallis of Cape Girardeau and Nancy Cheryl Gibson of Davenport, Fla.; brothers Eugene T. Schlick of Fruitland and Stephen J. Schlick and Michael L. Schlick of Jackson.

She leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews: Mike Schlick Jr., Chris Schlick, Jenny Schlick, Kristy Morris, David Wallis, Andrew Schlick, Bobbi Jo Schlick, Ryan Schlick, J.D. Schlick, Lance Schlick and Sarah Schlick. She loved them and their children as her own.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene T. Schlick, and a sister, Mary Jo Schlick

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel with Parish Prayers at 7 p.m.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities.
