Rose C. Gentry, 89, of Jackson, formerly of Lake Egypt, Ill., and Belleville, Ill., passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Bonne Terre, Mo., to James I. and Zora Leffrige Clark. She and Glen "Roger" Gentry were married Oct. 6, 1942. Roger passed away Aug. 10, 2005.

Rose attended business college in Cape Girardeau. She was employed by the former Ely Walker Apparel in Illmo and for 20 years by the former Vincent Brass Aluminum Co. in St. Louis. Thereafter, she and Roger moved to Lake Egypt, where Rose worked part time for Lake Egypt Water District. Upon moving to Jackson in the 1990s, she worked part time at Wills Insurance in Jackson and also volunteered at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The Gentry family is grateful to the Monticello House for the kindness and compassion extended to Rose during her year of residency at the home.

Loving survivors include a daughter-in-law, Karen Gentry of Jackson; three granddaughters, Lori (Brent) Wills and their children Kyla and Brandon of Jackson; Jill (Brad) Noel and their children Lindsey and Jason of Jackson; Amy (Christopher) Haertling and their children Allison and Jackson of Altenburg, Mo.; a sister, Frieda (Kelsey) Kelley of Gordonville; and a brother, Ray (Posey) Mayo of Dickson, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, James R. "Jim" Gentry; a grandson, Jason Gentry; her father, James I. Clark; her mother, Zora Clark-Mayo; and a brother, William Clark.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will be private, at a later date.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran School or Safe Harbor Animal Shelter.
