Helen Herd

Helen Marie Herd, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 21, 1936, in Logan City, Ark., to Jesse M. and Ida Seamens Martin. She and Robert Herd were married May 22, 1960, in Arroyo Grande, Calif. They were happily married for 52 years.

Helen had worked as a seamstress and was president of Senior Regent Moose Lodge in Santa Maria, Calif. Helen's hobbies were sewing and playing bingo.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Herd Sr.; two sons, Robert Herd Jr. and Donald Lee Herd of California; a daughter, Cindy Cruse of Cape Girardeau; and three grandchildren, Dawn Herd, Tiffany Herd, and Kristina Cruse of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Steven Herd.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of service Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
