FARRAR, Mo. -- John M. Muench, 77, of Farrar died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at his home. He was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Uniontown, Mo., son of John B. and Norma Schuessler Muench. He and Mary Lou Hadler were married Nov. 26, 1955. Muench had been part-owner of Altenburg Lumber Co. and a school bus driver for Meyer Bus Line. FARRAR, Mo. -- John M. Muench, 77, of Farrar died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at his home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Uniontown, Mo., son of John B. and Norma Schuessler Muench. He and Mary Lou Hadler were married Nov. 26, 1955.

Muench had been part-owner of Altenburg Lumber Co. and a school bus driver for Meyer Bus Line. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Riverhills Antique Tractor Club, board member of Saxon Memorial and a 4-H leader.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Allen (Pam) Muench of Perryville; four daughters, Phyllis (Kevin) Mayfield and Linda Cook (friend Wayne Jones) of Jackson, Martha (Brad) Floyd of Millersville and Margaret (Ken) George of Jackson; five brothers, the Rev. Herbert (Melba) Muench of St. Charles, Mo., Leroy (Aldine) Muench, George (Doris) Muench and Charles (Bonnie) Muench, all of Cissna Park, Ill., and the Rev. Paul (Andrea) Muench of Austin, Texas; a sister, Barbara (Robert) Blackwell of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Gloria Muench of Bradenton, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Chris, Dustin, Nicole, Staci, Amanda, Katelyn and Amelia; three step-grandchildren, Brian, Tanya and Chasity; seven great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Palmer Muench; three great-grandchildren; and a granddaughter-in-law, Robin Muench.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Salem Lutheran Organ Fund.
