THEBES, Ill. -- Nora Vaughn Thompson, 81, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Thebes, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Medical Center of Plano. She was born Feb. 13, 1932, near Cairo, Ill., to William F. and Eula Schlamer Vaughn. Survivors include two daughters, Miki (Ron) Gibson of Princeton, Texas, Dana Smith of Plano; two brothers, William "Tag" Vaughn of McClure, Ill., and David Vaughn of Olive Branch, Ill.; five sisters, Gen Thomas, Mary Lingle and Barbara Willoughby of Olive Branch, Sue (Billy) Biggar of Princeton, Fay (Vern) Kowitz of Orange, Calif.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.. ...

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank Vaughn.

A memorial service will be today at First Assembly of God Church in Plano. Her ashes will be brought to Southern Illinois to honor her request that they be scattered in the state of her birth.
