The Redhawks started Sunday's action by beating Bowling Green 4-1, then lost to host Evansville 9-2. Southeast also faced those two squads Saturday, falling to Bowling Green 4-1 and Evansville 8-0.

Southeast got off to a fast start Sunday against Bowling Green as freshman Savannah Carpenter belted her first collegiate home run -- a three-run, first-inning shot.

Cowan came back to start Sunday's finale against Evansville but took the loss to fall to 3-6. She allowed six hits and six runs -- three earned -- in three innings.

The Redhawks were outhit 9-5 and committed five errors.

Senior Simone Patterson hit the first home run of her two-year Southeast career, a solo shot in the third inning that tied the contest 2-2. Evansville went ahead for good with three runs in its half of the third.

Southeast is back in action Wednesday, hosting Indiana State for a 2 p.m. doubleheader. The Redhawks begin Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Murray State.
