Luella Stadt

Luella Emma Stadt, 85, of Jackson died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Jackson to Paul Henry and Hulda H. Aufdenberg Ahrens. She was married to Roland George Stadt on June 16, 1951. He died Oct. 23, 2010.

Luella graduated from Jackson High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in education and taught a few years in the St. Louis area. After moving to Jackson, she owned and operated Crafters Corner for more than 20 years. She also worked at Monticello House and provided in-home health care.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and taught Sunday school for several years. She also taught sewing to the underprivileged in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include five sons, Steve Stadt, Randy Stadt of Loveland, Colo., Rodney and Darrel (Carla) Stadt of Jackson and Darwin (Claire) Stadt of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Lavonne Harrell of Fredericksburg, Va., and Diane Lunsford of Jackson; a brother, Leonard Ahrens of Jackson; a sister, Elvira Sebastian of Jackson; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant sister, Leona.

Visitation will be from noon to time of service Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
