Saxony Lutheran senior Lauren Hecht scored all three goals in the unbeaten Crusaders' 3-0 victory over Sikeston last week.

The goals helped the Crusaders to a 2-0 week and to a perfect 6-0 start on their season.

All three of Hecht's goals came in the first half, and all three came one-touch shots on cross passes.

"I just felt like I knew where the ball was going to go," Hecht said. "I just needed to be in the air. They're quick, and they made really good crosses. You just gotta be ready."

Hecht, a forward, scored the game-winning goal 15 minutes into the game on a centering pass from Maddie Brune. She added two goals in the final four minutes of the half, first heading in another cross from Brune, then depositing a pass from Maci Daniel that came off a free kick.

The goals were the first of the season for Hecht, who has 20 in her career.

"She's a goal scorer," Saxony Lutheran coach Ryan Schweain said. "She has a knack for finding the net.

"She has foot skills, and she sees the field well. She has a good shot. She can put it on a rope from 30 out, given the time and space to do it."

Hecht has been a varsity starter since her freshman year, which was the inaugural season for girls soccer at Saxony Lutheran. She twice has gained first-team all-district honors and once has been named all-region.

"She's been a big part of the program all four years," Schweain said.
