Maurer named Big Brothers Big Sisters development chair

Jeff Maurer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri was named chairman of the Southern region development board. Maurer is the managing director of Mayson Capital Partners. Also on the board are Pat Allen of Celebrations Restaurant; Brock Alspaugh of Innovative Financial Solutions; Charlie Herbst, county commissioner; and Scott Rhodes of Plaza Tire Service Inc. The development board will serve Big Brothers Big Sisters with its mission of helping adults build positive relationships with children.

Volkerding earns Modern Woodman honors

Ken Volkerding, a financial representative with Modern Woodmen of America, earned agent of the year for the Missouri eastern region, life leader honors and new member leader for March 2013. Sherrill graduates from leadership academy

Jean Sherrill of Cape Girardeau graduated from the University of Missouri's leadership development academy. She is the director of nursing services at the Missouri Veterans Home. The academy helped Sherrill gain management and leadership skills for use in long-term-care facilities.

Kelsey named top performer

Tom Kelsey of Cape Girardeau was awarded the Realtor Award of Excellence and named a "Pinacle level performer" by the Realtor board for 2012. Kelsey is the president and broker for Lorimont Place Ltd. He has received honors for the last 17 years. He was recognized for producing multimillion-dollar volume for property sold and leased.

Brune joins United Way

Heather Brune of Jackson joined the United Way of Southeast Missouri as director of donor relations. Brune has more than 20 years of experience in business development and customer relations. She will be responsible for building and maintaining donor relations. She replaces Kim Voelker who joined the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce as membership development specialist.

Preusser joins First Midwest Bank

David Preusser joined First Midwest Bank in Jackson. He will be working with personal and commercial loans. Preusser has 10 years of credit analysis and commercial lending experience. He will join John Thompson and Laura Sparkman in the loan department.
