Reinholdt & Gardner of St. Louis and Cape Girardeau was selected by the Jackson R-2 School Board last night to buy bonds for the construction of a junior high school; district voters approved the $715,000 bond issue last November; the funds will pay for land, construction and equipment for the junior high.

Right-of-way clearance for the Highway 61 reconstruction through Cape Girardeau is expected to begin early next week; contractor for the total $1,672,698 road improvement is the R.B. Potashnick-D.L. Harrison Co. of Cape Girardeau; when completed, the highway will be four lanes of undivided pavement with an asphalt surface.

Palm Sunday. Eight individuals are confirmed at Christ Evangelical Church during the morning worship service: Vernelle Graden, Della Koechig, Jane Moore, Marie Ringwald, Madeline Senn, Paul Blattner, Nelson Kasten and Van Arden Sander; the Rev. Ralph E. Weisser, pastor, is in charge.

Final plans are being made for a three-hour service to be held Good Friday afternoon at Christ Episcopal Church; seven ministers from various Cape Girardeau churches will participate in the service.

1913

A young lady named T.L. Quackenbush has opened an office in the Houck Building for the purpose of collecting delinquent bills; she says she represents a national collection agency headquartered at Washington, D.C.

The first butter made by the new Jackson creamery is on the market and is selling at 35 cents per pound; it is put up in a neat, attractive package and is pronounced equal to any "Elgin product" ever seen.
