The Cape Girardeau Police Department is searching for the person or people who drove a cargo van off the lot of Cape Auto World.

According to Darin Hickey, department spokesman, at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday officers responded to Cape Auto World, 1238 Meadowbrook Drive, in regard to the theft of a white 2007 Chevrolet V-8 cargo van. An employee said the dealership had noticed the van had been missing for about the last two weeks, but dealership staff had been conducting their own internal check as to whether the van had been taken in for service or was being test driven by someone. On Tuesday, the dealership reported the vehicle stolen, Hickey said, and no suspects are in custody.
