PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- What started as a warrant arrest turned into the seizure of 96 marijuana plants at a Perryville home, according to the county sheriff.

Perry County deputies found the plants and 1/4 pound of processed pot after arriving Monday at 515 Park Ave. to arrest Jason Bartlett, 26, on an outstanding burglary and stealing warrant, Sheriff Gary Schaaf said in a news release.

Schaaf said deputies "discovered an indoor marijuana growing operation" and got a warrant to search Bartlett's home. Schaaf said prescription drugs and a gun also were found, and Bartlett is a felon.

Bartlett was charged with growing marijuana with a child present, distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon -- a switchblade -- and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
