ULLIN, Ill. -- The Illinois State Police have released the identity of the man killed early Friday morning on Interstate 57 in Union County.

Lt. Brad Lacey of the state police said 57-year-old William Mundy of Warren, Mich., was found dead shortly after 3 a.m. in the middle of the interstate between mile markers 37 and 38.

The driver of a car that struck Mundy made a 911 call and stayed at the scene. The driver said Mundy came out of nowhere and that he also was hit by a second car that did not stay at the scene, according to Lacey.
