Rape being investigated by Cape police

A forcible rape alleged to have occurred Friday night is being investigated by the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

According to Darin Hickey, police department spokesman, at about 9 a.m. Saturday officers responded to Southeast Hospital where a 29-year-old woman reported she had been raped the night before. The suspect allegedly involved in the rape was known to the woman, Hickey said, the woman said the rape happened at a Cape Girardeau residence.

Hickey said the suspect was not in custody as of Monday morning, and the case is under investigation.
