Clarence Wesley "Cotton" Morris Jr., 90, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 25, 1923, in New Madrid, Mo., to Clarence W. and Ethel Flora Cammeron Morris Sr. He and Wanda Lee Smith were married Sept. 21, 1943, in Benton, Mo.

Clarence was a member of First General Baptist Church.

He served his country for three years with the U.S. Army in the European Theater, as a member of the 284th Combat Engineers serving with the 3rd Army. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal.

Clarence had been a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 since 1951. He worked 30 years for Superior Concreters as a member of Operating Engineers Local 513 Hoisting Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lee Morris of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Clarence W. (Nancy) Morris III of Gordonville and Randol Leroy (Marlene) Morris of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Randy (Amanda) Morris Jr., Emily (Eric) Grable, Jennifer Stovall, Kristin Miller and Israel Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Charlotte Stovall, Audrey Morris and Graham Grable.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to time of service Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Sam Ramdial officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by VFW Post 3838.
