As the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau continues its rise toward an expected crest this morning, floodwaters have closed more roads in Cape Girardeau.

Barricades already were in place Wednesday at North End Boulevard and Big Bend Road; North Water and Third street; La Cruz and South Third streets; and Cooper and South Third streets. Barricades have now been placed at North Main and Second streets; Rand and North Water streets; and Hill Street. Barricades that were at North Water and Second streets were moved to North Main and Second streets.
