Gordon Feeney of Jackson recently carded his third career hole-in-one at Kimbeland Country Club.

Feeney used an 8-iron to ace No. 4, a par 3 playing 115 yards. Witnesses were Ray Boren and Wayne Steffens.

Cook, Schreckenberg win horseshoe event

Lachelle Cook and Virgil Schreckenberg took first place at the SEMO Horseshoe Association event Saturday at the Oran Jaycees.

Ron LeGrand and Steve Bickings placed second, while Melody Williams and Mike DaVault finished third.

LeGrand and Mike Kleusner teamed to win the Sunday competition at the Benton American Legion.

Schreckenberg and Lester Powell were second, and Tyler Elfrink and Cleo Schaffer Jr. took third.

Upcoming events are Saturday at the Scott City Knights of Columbus and Sunday at the Leopold Knights of Columbus.

Mapes, Moore, Strom win WGA event

Beth Mapes, Shirley Moore and Pat Strom won the Women's Golf Association's Big Break Spring 2013 on Tuesday at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Sheryl Bollinger, Irene Thomas and Catharine Weed placed second, while Wendi Carns, Priscilla Kirby and Betty Michel finished third.
