Nancy Hunter Chapter NSDAR

The Nancy Hunter Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met on April 24 at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. Regent Charlotte Slinkard opened the meeting with the DAR Ritual, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and the American's Creed.

Guest speaker, Dr. Bonnie Stepenoff, presented the program "Preserving our History through Oral Interview Techniques." A certificate of appreciation, along with an American flag pin were presented to her for the excellent program.

The April message from NSDAR President General, Merry Ann Wright, urged members to attend the 122nd Continental Congress June 24 through 28 in Washington, D.C.

LaFern Stiver gave the National Defense Report on the status of women in military combat.

Chapter officer reports and committee reports were given. Registrar, Catherine Allison, reported that she was working with prospective members who have been referred to the chapter from the National Society and the Missouri State Societies.

DAR Good Citizen Chairman, Carol Robinson, and DAR American History Chairman, Stiver, have arranged for awards to be given in area schools. DAR Schools Chairman, Sue LaBruyere, urged members to save Campbell Soup labels, which will be sent to approved schools and redeemed for supplies and equipment.

The next meeting, a luncheon, will be held May 22 at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
