Alexis Anderson had a monster rookie season with the Southeast Missouri State softball team this year.

Anderson's performance was recognized Tuesday as she was named first-team all-Ohio Valley Conference based on voting by the league's coaches and sports information directors.

The junior center fielder who transferred from junior college batted .403 -- the fifth-highest single-season mark in program history. She ranks third in the OVC and her .500 average in conference play is tied for first in the league. She led the conference in hits during league play with 40.

Anderson also led the Redhawks in slugging percentage (.632), on-base percentage (.434) and hits (54). She tied for the team lead with 27 runs scored, tied for second with eight home runs, was third with 26 RBIs and tied for third with seven doubles.

Anderson also made the OVC's all-newcomer squad, as did Southeast freshman catcher Chelsea Smith.

Smith batted .265 with five doubles and 12 RBIs. She threw out 15 runners on the bases.

"It is a tremendous honor for both Alexis and Chelsea to be voted to the all-OVC teams," Southeast coach Lana Richmond said in a release. "Both of these ladies have promising careers ahead of them at Southeast."
