LODI, Mo. -- A Perryville, Mo., woman was seriously injured in a crash early Tuesday morning on U.S. 67 near Lodi, Mo.
At about 3 a.m., Heather R. Bailey, 26, of Perryville was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier south on U.S. 67 in Wayne County, about three miles north of Lodi, when she made a left-hand turn into the path of a 2011 International truck driven by David L. Lax, 50, of Mascoutah, Ill., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Lax was overtaking the Cavalier when Bailey turned, the patrol reported. The truck struck Bailey's car, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and go into the median.
A passenger in the Cavalier, 4-year-old Kyle G. Deweese of Perryville, sustained minor injuries, according to the report. He and Bailey were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff [Mo.] Regional Medical Center.
Bailey was not using a seat belt, the report stated.
