MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. -- A Jackson man is dead after a Thursday boating accident on Kentucky Lake.

According to Sgt. Garry Clark, 1st District supervisor for the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Timothy Clippard, 51, died at the scene of the accident under the Eggner's Ferry Bridge in Marshall County.

Clark said Clippard and the boat's driver were traveling north underneath the bridge heading to Moor's Marina as part of a bass-fishing tournament. The boat struck an underwater part of the bridge that was made of either concrete or steel, which caused the boat's motor to break off and flip. The motor hit Clippard's head and killed him, Clark said.
