Shirley Carter

BENTON, Mo. -- Shirley Irene Carter, 77, of Benton died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at her home.

She was born July 7, 1935, in Dogwood, Mo., to Issac Candaberry and Lula Elizabeth Boyer Treece. She and Charles Carter were married July 11, 1968, in Charleston, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Shirley managed a laundromat in Charleston. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by a son, Kevin Carter of Benton; a brother, George (Betty) Treece of Millersville; and a sister, Nola May (Albert) Edwards of New Madrid, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service today at Unity Baptist Church in Benton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
