BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A woman accused of murdering her husband at their Puxico, Mo., home is expected in a Stoddard County courtroom today.

Victoria Isaac, 48, was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband, 48-year-old Christopher L. Isaac.

Victoria Isaac called 911 at about 8:18 a.m. Tuesday saying she had killed her husband at their home on Church Street.

Before Victoria Isaac spoke any more, her son, Kenneth Smith II, took the phone and informed the dispatcher he was in the home when the incident happened.

When Stoddard County deputy Hank Trout, commander of the Stoddard County Major Case Squad, arrived at the scene, he found Victoria Isaac sitting on the front porch of the home and Smith standing in the front yard.

Smith told officers he was in bed and woke up to the first several shots.

"She ended up firing six rounds into him there on the couch," Smith is quoted as saying in a probable-cause affidavit.

Victoria Isaac was arrested, and police said she confessed while being taken to the jail in Bloomfield.

Authorities said Victoria Isaac was in bed and "something" told her to get up and "end him." She said she had planned to kill herself as well, but her son came into the room and she didn't have enough time to load the rounds to shoot herself.

She said her husband was on the couch asleep when she took a .22-caliber pistol from a kitchen cabinet. She said the gun belonged to her mother.

When asked what she had done with the gun, Victoria Isaac said she threw it.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

Judge Joe Z. Satterfield allowed no bond, saying Victoria Isaac is a danger to herself and the community.
