ADVANCE, Mo. -- Kenneth Edwin Spane, 76, of Advance passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at his home.

He was born July 28, 1936, in Bell City, Mo., son of Freeman and Virginia Kneezle Spane. He and Betty Palmer were married Jan. 28, 1955, in Bernie, Mo.

Kenneth was a member of Bernie Church of the Nazarene, and served on the Missouri District Church of the Nazarene Advisor Board. He received the distinguished service award from the Church of the Nazarene. He was a manager at MFA Exchange in Advance, Bernie and Perry, Mo. He also farmed for 20 years and served on the Advance City Council for four years.

He served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Terri (Jim) Sungur of Richmond Hills, Ga.; a sister, Lonella Lee of Troy, Ill.; five grandchildren, Dustin Spane, Cris (Don) Stoltz, Trelana Daniel, Jimmy (Shannon) Sungur and Jennifer Sungur Riley; and a great-grandchild, Brooke Sungur. Kenneth's extended family includes Billie Palmer Hiett, Norman and Carolyn Palmer, Preston and Arvilla Palmer, Dale and Faye Young, Keith and Neoma Gibson and Max and Leona Downs; nieces and nephews; and all his beloved church family and friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Spane, and his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Frye officiating and the Rev. Jonathan Humbert assisting. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
