Helen Ferrier

TAMMS, Ill. -- Helen Ferrier, 65, of Tamms died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Jonesboro Rehab & Healthcare Center.

She was born April 8, 1948, in Chicago, daughter of Edward and Helen J. (Nessler) Schneider. She met Norman Ferrier at a horse show and they were married Jan. 10, 1975.

Helen was retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after 30 years of service. She showed saddlebred and quarter horses from 1975 to 1993. She was a three-time winner of the National Saddlebred Horse Shows.

She is survived by her husband, Norman of Tamms; two stepdaughters, Connie and Carol; a sister, Nancy Schneider; two cousins, Fran and Iris; her mother-in-law, Margaret Ann Christensen; and a sister-in-law, Linda Bruce.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating.
