Bennie H. "Sonny" Kimbel, 79, of Oak Ridge passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 3, 1934, in Cape Girardeau to Benjamin Henry and Syble Marie Carmack Kimbel.

He and Pauline M. Newell were married June 13, 1959, in Jackson.

Sonny was the owner and operator of B&K Logging Co. in Jackson. He was a member of Christ Gospel Church in Millersville. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and working in his garden. He loved being outdoors. His girls were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Tina M. (Carl) Burger, Terri Ann (Carl) Froemsdorf, Michelle J. Schwarz, Leslie D. (Scott Fritsche) Austin and Paula F. (David) Stoops, all of Jackson; four brothers, Gene Kimbel of Jackson, Ray Kimbel of Perryville, Mo., Bobby Kimbel of Neelys Landing and James Kimbel of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Betty Gregory of Cape Girardeau, Jeanette Farrow of Pocahontas and Shirley McLain, Hulda Flanigan and Billie Farrow, all of Jackson; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bennie R. Kimbel, in August 1990; and two sisters, Joanne Parker and Brenda Turner.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Chris Collier officiating.

Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery in Millersville.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family for funeral expenses.
