Irmgard Maria Siemer, 73, of Jackson died Friday, May 24, 2013, at her home.

She was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Ruthen, Germany, to Vincenz and Maria Kirsh Schonlau.

She immigrated to America on July 2, 1958, at the age of 18 and settled in St. Louis. There she met John Henry Siemer and they were married Nov. 11, 1961. They later moved to Fort Bragg, N.C., while John served in the U.S. Army.

After his military service was finished, they moved back to St. Louis. In 1971, Irmgard and John moved to Jackson and bought C.H. Sander Hardware Co., and renamed the business to what currently is Siemer's Best Brands Plus.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, John of Jackson; a son, Anthony (Joyce) Siemer of Friedheim; two daughters, Dr. Deanna Siemer and husband Kevin Welker, Andrea (Chris) Marchi, both of Jackson; two sisters, Maria Schonlau-Appelhoff of Wuppertal, Germany, and Margret Kather of Aachen, Germany; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Franz-Josef Schonlau.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Revs. David Hulshof and John Harth officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
