Scott City police plan sobriety checkpoint next month

The Scott City Police Department has planned a sobriety checkpoint in July to crack down on drunken driving.

According to a news release issued by the department, Scott City police will join other Missouri law-enforcement agencies in holding a sobriety checkpoint in July to enforce DWI laws and keep impaired drivers off the road.

If drivers are caught driving drunk, they can expect jail time, loss of their driver's license or be sentenced to use an ignition interlock device, the release said.
