LaVerne Marie Fiehler, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Menfro, Mo., to Martin Eugene and Della Guemmer Schamburg. She and Walter C. Fiehler were married Oct. 10, 1948, at Perryville, Mo.

LaVerne was a graduate of Perryville High School. She was a secretary for the Social Security Administration and the National Guard. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel and its Ladies Guild. She was an avid card player with Walter and several other couples.

Survivors include her husband, Walter C. Fiehler of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Michael Fiehler (Daphna) of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Fiehler (Barbara) of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Linda Koch (Douglas) and Julie Fiehler of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Dorothy Flentge of Perryville, Helen Meyer (Rupert) of Cape Girardeau, Janet Conrad (Lynn) of Perryville and Betty Brune (Kelly) of Friedheim; seven grandchildren, Andrew Fiehler, Bradley Fiehler, Shelly McCoy, Todd Koch, Misty Koch-Dunning, Eric Fiehler and Eryn Brockman; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Chapel, with the Rev. Barry L. Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
