SIKESTON, Mo. -- Three men were arrested in connection with a Monday shooting that left a Sikeston man paralyzed.

About 1:15 a.m., the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a call that someone was shot in the 800 block of Mary Street. The 35-year-old victim, who had a gunshot wound to his back, told officers someone kicked in his back door and shot him while he was standing near the door.

Devante "Tae" McClinton, 19, of Sikeston was arrested two days later after the victim woke in the hospital and named McClinton as one of the people who broke into his home. The victim said he was shot in the back during a struggle with McClinton. The bullet stuck the victim in the back and reportedly struck his spine, leaving him paralyzed. McClinton had two outstanding warrants for robbery and burglary.

Late Thursday afternoon, Maurice "Lil Nolan" Hunt, 17, and Shaquille "Kilo" Sherrod, 19, both of Sikeston, were arrested in connection with the shooting.

All three men were charged with first-degree burglary and armed criminal action.
