Southeast Chamber sets performances

The 2013 Southeast Chamber Music Institute will hold two concerts featuring Chamber Institute faculty and students in July in the Shuck Music Recital Hall at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus. The first concert will be a faculty chamber music recital at 7:30 p.m. July 9. Recital performers will include Brandon Christensen, Sara Edgerton, Patrick Rafferty, Gabrielle Baffoni, Jennifer Judd and the flute ensemble Calliope. A second chamber music concert featuring students begins at 3 p.m. July 13. The students will present a variety of chamber ensemble pieces including trios, quartets and music for chamber orchestra. The Southeast Chamber Music Institute is a summer program offering students 12 and up the opportunity to work with Southeast music faculty. The two concerts are free and open to the public.

The "Mrs. Carter Show World Tour," starring Beyoncé, is extending its global run and will include a performance at the Scottrade Center on Dec. 14. Feminist perspective at Blackdoor show

During July and August, the Blackdoor Gallery, 123 S. Spanish St., will host the Feminine Perspective Show. This art show consists of 40 women artists and their art. Artists from various parts of the country, local artists, college students, art instructors and professional artist will be represented.
