The Cape Ford and Sons Post 63 Senior American Legion baseball squad found the going tough in their opener of the Polk Brooks American Legion Tournament in Paducah, Ky., falling to Paducah 9-0 Thursday night.

Post 63 (14-14) managed just four hits in the game, shortened to five innings by an eight-run mercy rule.

Ryan Ochoa took the loss, allowing six runs -- four eraned -- in two innings, giving up six this, walking two and striking out one.

Paducah improved to 15-2.

Post 63 will play Chugiak, Alaska, today at 11:30 a.m., and Terre Haute, Ind., at 2:45 p.m.

Junior Legion

The Cape Plaza Tire Post 63 Junior American Legion squad split a twin bill with Sikeston, winning the opener 6-3 before dropping the nightcap 7-6.

In the first game, Hayden Lynn got the win on the mound, allowing six hits, walking two and striking out three in 5 1/3 innings. Noah Dillingham got the save.

Cramer McGarr had a three-run home run while Caleb Ward added two hits for Post 63.

In the second game, Bennett Osborne drove in two runs to lead Post 63 (13-16). Dillingham took the loss.
