VAN BUREN, Mo. -- An Illinois swimmer drowned in the Current River in southern Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Lucas E. Melhler of Hutsonville, Ill. The victim's age was listed as unknown. The patrol said Melhler was floating on a stretch of the Current River in Carter County on Saturday afternoon when he became tangled in a branch.
