Clara L. Bass, 71, of Pocahontas passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born June 6, 1942, in Dexter, Mo., to Oscar F. and Ruby L. Underwood Conklin. She and Joe E. Bass were married Dec. 19, 1959. Clara attended Cape Girardeau Central High School. She most recently was employed at Simply a Deal in Cape Girardeau. Clara L. Bass, 71, of Pocahontas passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 6, 1942, in Dexter, Mo., to Oscar F. and Ruby L. Underwood Conklin. She and Joe E. Bass were married Dec. 19, 1959.

Clara attended Cape Girardeau Central High School. She most recently was employed at Simply a Deal in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include her husband of 53 years, Joe, of Pocahontas; a grandson, Jarad Bass of the home; daughter-in-law Linda (the late Terry) Bass and their children, Morgan and Jordan of Pocahontas, and Ryan of Kansas City, Mo.; and two brothers, Ray (Virginia) Conklin of Kelso, Mo., and Jack (Carolyn) Conklin of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Toby Bass, on July 10, 2002, and Terry Bass, on March 22, 2010; a brother, Ronnie Conklin; and her parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodger Rice officiating. Interment will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. Pallbearers will be Chris, Brian, Mike, Jackie Jr. and Tim Conklin; Danny and Greg Murakami; and Paul Sauer.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the charity or church of donor's choice.
